Rehearsal Notes March 26

Hello singers!

Thank you for such focused work on our festival pieces on Tuesday evening. I’m not sure if the benefits of the “polishing” are evident to you yet, but I promise it is worth the effort. Any choir can learn notes and words. It takes a whole lot more brains and heart to dig in to the details of phrasing, vowels, tuning, syllable stress… musical nuance. THIS is the stuff that makes choirs sound great and helps the audience connect with the singing. We’re doing it!

OK. Time to get very real. We have 4 rehearsals left before Kiwanis. After that? Just a Tuesday and a Friday dress rehearsal before the final concert. It is CRUNCH TIME.

– Sing everyday

– check in with section mates during the week to see how their learning is going

– practice looking up while singing so that we can communicate musical expression together

– Sneak in mini-practice sessions throughout the day as needed (like in the car waiting for children who are at activities 🙂

This takes some self-discipline and a little bit of extra time. Be kind to yourself AND push yourself to develop strong practice habits.

No detailed rehearsal notes this week as I’m going to try to get the lines recorded for Danny Boy and I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.

Have a wonderful week, practice hard, and be proud of your progress!!
