Hello again, singers!
Now that our October workshop is finished (and was a booming success!!) we can concentrate our energy on working towards our December 6th concert. Now is the time to reach out to family and friends to tell them to save that date! They will want to hear you and join in our concert fun!
A few things to help us stay on track:
1. Last evening, we returned Here’s to Song, Love Train, Farewell Blessing, and Hope Lingers On. If you haven’t already, please get them to librarian Dawn at the next rehearsal.
2. The final page of “Good King Wenceslas” will be available next Tuesday.
3. This morning, I’ve added short recordings to the Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass subfolders in our shared Google drive for 4 pieces:
– God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
– Good King Wenceslas
– Hark the Herald Angels Sing!
– When Christ was Born
In “God Rest” please mark your scores as needed to help you follow the words and notes at the same time. This mostly applies to verse 4 for ATB.
4. Dr. Frances Farrell is booked for Nov 14th. Lucky us! We will gather at 10:45 am and start our session with her at 11:00. She will work with us for 90 minutes, we will break for lunch, and then sing with Annapolis Voices until… I’ll check with Beth on our end time because I completely forget 🙂
5. Song list, not in concert order:
- Carol booklet (3 carols)
- Suai’r Gwynt
- Shchedryk
- Away in a Manger
- The Hands That First Held Mary’s Child
- Miss Fogarty
- When Christ was Born of Mary Free
- Cum decore
- Brightest and Best
- Auld Lang Syne
Everything but one song is Christmas. Phew! I think this counts as a very Christmassy concert! Another song to come… !!
No specific rehearsal notes today, beyond reviewing everything we’ve worked on up to this point. Get familiar with your vocal lines and pronunciation of texts. You will feel great when you are comfortable with the music and can look up and listen!
Happy singing!
