And this season is a wrap!

Hello everyone,

As promised, here is a recap of what your EnchorEast Board has accomplished this past year. First, please refer to the attached document, our 2024 Strategic Plan. This plan is the result of many hours of work by the Board in 2023, who gathered and organized information from choir members to create future goals.   Looking at the plan, you will see that we have made great gains in following the directives listed, and we will continue to build on these goals in upcoming years.

At the same time our strategic plan was being formed, the Board also looked at our current “brand” and  a consultant was hired to design a new logo and webpage. This was done during the 2024-25 season, and implemented this past year. Thus, we had our new colours, (e.g. attire and web site theme) and new name tags. Still to come, we hope to purchase a free standing vinyl banner to identify us at other venues.  The website has been totally revamped and is now being used for providing information to prospective members, as well as organizing information for current members. Don’t forget the member password is “happysong” to access practice resources or an archive of Krista’s notes.  Our friend Ron recorded the May concert and you can find media at: https://enchoreastsingers.ca/2026spring-screen-time/ Thanks, Ron!

Here are some specific accomplishments of your Enchor East Board of directors during the past season:

  • Developed the criteria and policies pertaining to financial aid for members who request such assistance.  A bursary will be made available for this purpose.  More information will be upcoming and the application form will be on the website before fall.
  • Initiated a “Rainy Day” fund to allow the choir to function for one full term should some unforeseen event should occur. (Please no more pandemics!)
  • Applied to NS Choral Federation partnership program, allowing us to provide receipts to possible donors through NSCF.
  • Attended a virtual workshop specific to Boards of choirs, as sponsored by NS Choral Federation.
  • Began the examination of all aspects of financial goals of the choir.   The hope is that a specific plan can be formulated to address and streamline all avenues of generating income.
  • Began to explore possible activities and ways to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the choir next year.

Current Board members:

  • Elaine Morrow, Chair
  • Heather Anderson,  Vice Chair
  • Dawn Doucet,   Treasurer
  • Lori Scott, Secretary
  • Members at large:
    • Alfred Kwan
    • Cathrin Ronnebeck
    • Kristel VomScheidt
    • Jeanne Saulnier

I want to extend a huge thank you to those of you who participated in the performance for Elisabeth Manteuffel’s celebration of life.  It was truly a beautiful evening, and for those of us who had not known her (of which there were many), it was wonderful to learn about her and her importance to the history of our choir. Her family really appreciated our musical contribution, and we all enjoyed Dean’s amazing solo performance as a bonus!  This was truly a heartfelt way to demonstrate community engagement as well.

Well done, choristers!!  And thank you Krista, for giving of your time for this event as well.

If you have music to return, please get in touch. Jeanne or Dawn Kerr can make arrangements to connect with you.  Also, if you have concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all a safe and happy summer and  hope to see you in September for another year of making wonderful music together!  If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them contact Krista at  enchoreastsingerssociety@gmail.com.

Krista is meeting with prospective members in June, as well as in the fall.    Here is our recruiting poster that can be used electronically, or printed and placed on bulletin boards in your community. You can click on this to download it and share.

Finally, last but not least, good luck to all our members who will be performing at the Seton Conservatory concert this coming Sunday. This choir is also directed by Krista and accompanied by Dean. Always a great concert and it’s Shakespeare this year!!!

We heard them at the festival as you recall.   https://maritimeconservatory.com/setonchoir/

With thanks for all your support,

Elaine
