Hello wonderful choir,
What a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon 🙂
We did it! The last 4 months of rehearsals and practice paid off and we sang our very best. The hard work was totally worth it. I hope you are feeling great about not only your performance but also your learning and progress this term. We’ve improved so much!
I never seem to make it out of the sanctuary with the choir afterwards and wish we had a chance to chat about our work before breaking for the summer. I was proud of every single one of you! We are all coming from different choral backgrounds and are working on our own musical goals. I truly hope you are celebrating your accomplishments.
Concert highlights for me?
Skyfall was the best we’ve ever done. Seriously. We found that sense of musical line and forward direction and it was very effective. I heard from one of our singers that it was her children’s favourite out of the whole program.
Singers were watching me. Really! I felt that I was able to connect with so many more people while singing. And how great to see faces instead of tops of heads 🙂
There was a real sense of confidence yesterday. More than ever before. We were able to push beyond survival mode and really make music together. YAY!
My daughter thought the social media song was funny. Which means she could understand the words! Well done!
I heard from a number of former choristers and music teachers who said that Cantique was their favourite piece and that we sang it beautifully. This is high praise. It is a challenging piece to sing well.
Mrs. Burton couldn’t believe the number of pieces that we learned and that we sang with such attention to detail. Again, a wonderful compliment from someone who really gets it.
My son quietly and musically rocked his euphonium solo in Bohemian Rhapsody 🙂
What a responsive and encouraging audience! They all braved the weather to come out and hear our concert! Please thank your family and friends for their support. Hopefully they were each able to connect with something on the program and walked away feeling a little lighter on a dreary day.
Sending out thank yous once again to the wonderful Dean, our calm and efficient executive and board, and our amazing roadies Ron and Bill. Of course, special thanks to our musical guests, techy Jake, and ALL of the helpers who took on extra jobs to help things run smoothly.
I can hardly believe that it’s over. I didn’t really sleep last night. Snippets of songs on repeat 🙂 I’ll give myself a few weeks to get through the next round of concerts and events and then… time to start choosing rep for next year!
Bask in your success and sing your heart out! Chat soon!
